Mr. Justice Zahid Kurban Alavi was born on 21st August,
1941 at Karachi. Passed Matriculation from St. Patrick's
School and Intermediate Examination from St. Patrick's
College. Graduate from the University of Sindh; obtained
degrees of Bachelors of Law and Masters in International
Relations from the University of Sindh; Wrote short
stories and articles and got them published in magazines
of school and other organizations; Member of the English
Speaking Society in St. Patrick's College; Member of
the Harvest Magazine published by the English Department,
Karachi University; Member of the Behra Youth Organization;
Founder of Junior Chamber of Commerce International
in Pakistan including Chapter president, National President
of Pakistan Senator of JCI Advisor to the World President
of JCI; Rotarian, held various positions at club and
district Lebel including President of Club and Chairman
of various committees of District Level; Member Social
Services Co-ordinating council; President, Pakistan
American Cultural Centre and Member of the Board since
15 years; Member, Board of Govt., Teachers Resource
Centre; member, Board of Govt. Hasani Academy Society;
Member, Human Rights Commission of Pakistan; Karachi
Bar Association; Member Sindh High Court Bar Association;
Member, Karachi co-operative lawyers society; Member,
Pak China Friendship Society; Founder Member SAARC LAW
and Vice President SAARC LAW Pakistan, Karachi Chapter;
Founder of Mobile Blood Donors Group; Member, Managing
Committee St. Patrick's Alumni; Founder, Law College
Law Conference committee; Member, Dramatic Society of
S.M. Law College; Gen. Sec. Department International
Relations; Member, Special Committee set up to investigate
laws for children by Govt. of Sindh; Managing Trustees
and Trustee of 14 Trusts primarily meant for education;
Member Board of Governor, Greenwich University. Attended
and spoke in Seminars on following topics in Karachi,
Pakistan and internationally On laws for young children;
Special Law for the Handicapped; On UN & You at
Osaka Japan; On growth in organization in Manila philippines;
On Pakistan at San Francisco; Spoke on Soak Pits in
seven cities of India, sponsored by UNICEF; Have addressed
meetings and seminars in Singapore, Bangkok, Colombo,
Nepal, London and Gottenburg; Was invited to the Salzburg
Conference in Austria. Initiated the concept of Soak
Pits in Karachi with the Dutch Advisory Mission and
UNICEF. Taught the blind. Founded Home School concept.
Started "each one teach one". Given recognition
awards in St. Louis, Mo. USA, by US Jaycees; by UNICEF
in Calcutta, India; by JCI International in St. Louis,
in Manila, in Sweden. By Pakistan Jaycees, by Karachi
Jaycees' by Rotary International, by Dist. Governors
327 by Club President of the Singapore Jaycees and by
Penang Jaycees. Gold Star Award given to firm of Zahid
and Tariq; Only Pakistani to be interviewed by Club
of Rome on "Young Leaders of the World"; Recognised
by European Community for 20 years of Service for Handicapped;
Appeared in who's who is Pakistan in the year 2001.
Started Law Practice after graduating in Law in June,
1966.
